Lyle Williams is a Skwxwu7mesh Uxwumixw (Squamish Nation) carver born in 1978 in North Vancouver B.C and is from the Bear Clan. He works and lives in Xwemech’stn (Capilano IR Indian Reserve) where he grew up.

He has studied at BCIT completing the Red Seal program for Iron Worker Generalist and has found himself coming back to the art he loves to do.

Lyle has been carving for 20 years and first learned to carve while watching his father Lyle Williams Sr. and  learned to carve alongside the late Willy Watts and worked alongside Stan Joseph completing a totem pole carving course in 2001 where it stands at the chief Joe Mathias to this day. Lyle has taught himself a lot through trial with a modern twist and strives to come up with new creative ideas that seem to get better after every completion.

He specializes in  fine detailed yellow cedar projects big or small and loved to create intricate masks, three dimensional figure, rattles, totem poles and fine design with close attention to details.

Lyle Loves to use animals and native legends themes in his art and uses bears, killer whales, salmon, eagles, hawks, otters, and many more animals to use in his visions.

Lyle has completed commissioned big projects for schools, businesses, and collectors.
