Archie Andrew is a Squamish Nation artist working in wood carving and painting. In 1974, at the age of 20, he began studying under Floyd Joseph, who became his teacher, mentor, and the inspiration behind his artistic style.
Art is a family tradition for Archie, and his relative David Gonzales is also an artist. Over the years he has taught art across Canada, sharing his knowledge with communities far and wide. Among all his work, he is proudest of the totem pole he created in Bella Coola, as well as his years of teaching.
Quick check: I took “1974” as the year you started with Floyd, since I wasn’t sure if it was a birth year. If it’s his birth year, let me know and I’ll fix it!
