This master artist carves all the designs into the ceramic and uses brilliant paints to finish his pieces. This bowl shows an owl wrapped around the outside. Painted in red and black , gray and green compliments the soft white background beautifully.

• Owl is a nocturnal hunting bird, a strong and flier with acute hearing and vision and a hunting call. As in other cultures, Northwest Coast people believe that owl has great powers of wisdom, foreknowledge and perception.
