Description

This amazing Full Moon Mask is deeply carved and has an open mouth. Beautiful inlaid paua shells decorate the eyes and the forehead. The figure on the top is an Eagle spirit, eagle spirits are revered for their excellent vision both literally and figuratively. The mask is surrounded by the four dancers, each has arms and hands on both sides. On top is the eagle dancer. She is the sister of the two Human spirit dancers on the left and right side of the item. Another sister of the eagle dancer is the Woman dancer on the bottom. All dancers have inlaid paua shells as eyes. Brass decorations are integrated in all the figures on the mask as well as on the left and right of the bottom dancer. Created by a master carver, this is an extremely unique piece.
