Richard Baker J.R.

Richard Baker Jr. is a young Indigenous artist from the Squamish Nation, born in 2011. He is the youngest son of Richard Baker Sr. and the youngest brother of Troy Baker, both respected Indigenous artists. Growing up in a family of carvers, Richard was surrounded by culture, creativity, and traditional teachings from an early age.

Richard has just begun carving at the age of 14, learning under the guidance of his brother Troy Baker and artist Jacob George. As he starts his artistic journey, he is building foundational skills while learning the cultural significance behind the art. Richard represents the next generation of Squamish artists, continuing to grow as an artist while proudly carrying forward his family’s artistic legacy with pride and respect for his heritage.
