Garreth Gonzales was born in 1954 and is a member of the Coast Salish Nation, Squamish Tribe, Capilano Reservation. This Nation is located in the southern region of the province.
Garreth comes from a long line of artists and as a result it was only natural for him to begin carving at an early age. His Grandfather Sylvester Campbell introduced him to carving and inspired him to continue on the traditional carving techniques of his ancestors.
Garreth uses red and yellow cedar as his medium for carving beautiful masks, totems, ceremonial bowls, rattles and plaques.
