Delmar Joseph was born in 1956 a Squamish Nation in Capilano, BC. Delmar began carving when he was only eleven years old.

Delmar apprenticed under the expert guidance of his father, Larry Joseph. Delmar is the brother of famed carver Chief Floyd Joseph who was instrumental in re-establishing the Coast Salish art of carving after it collapsed. Delmar’s sureness of line and satin finish is irresistible to admires of his work. He carves story poles, boxes, and plaques. He now lives on the Cheekeye reserve in Squamish, British Columbia with his family.
