Christian is a skilled artist who hails from the Dene Nation in the Northwest Territories of Canada. He was born on November 9, 1973. His father, John Turo, and mother, Geo Mackay, raised him, alongside his brother John Turo in a family that had a deep appreciation for traditional Indigenous art.
from an early age, Christian showed a keen interest in art and would often spend hours observing nature and sketching in his notebook. He learned the art of carving and painting from his parents and grandparents, who were also skilled artisans.
For over 25 years, Christian has been honing his craft, and during that time, he achieved so many things. One of his most significant accomplishments is his ability to create big masks, skateboards, and swords. His approach to his work is inspired by the rich colors and textures found in nature, and he is known for incorporating them into his pieces.
Through his art, he helped preserve and promote the cultural heritage of the Dene Nation. He sees art as a way of expressing his connection to his ancestors and the natural world. He continues to create and inspire others with his art.
